A Message From Our CEO, Richard Marsh:
On Friday night, we attended the North West Charity of the Year Awards held at The Principal Hotel in Manchester. The event is held to celebrate achievements within third sector organisations across the region and is a night of recognition and festivity.
The evening started out with a great win for us – having nominated our amazing supporters, Dept (formerly known as e3creative) for Outstanding Charity Support from an SME, they took home the prize. After the support they have given us the past year, both financially and with promotional videos and coding workshops, it was great to see them recognised for their hard work and dedication.
Then it was on to the main and most prestigious award…
…We were one of 18 finalists nominated for ‘North West Charity of the Year’ – the other names were really from the Premier League of the third sector with many larger and older charities with bigger budgets than ourselves. However, we only went and WON IT!!!!!!!!!!
This is a truly amazing award and I was left speechless and the proudest person at the event. Whilst I can’t quite put into words what this means, I will try…
We have been acknowledged by our peers as simply the BEST Charity in the North West – it is thanks to everyone that is a part of Manchester Youth Zone that has enabled us to win this award, we have so many examples of best practice and with our team going the extra mile and taking responsibility for delivering the best for our young people, our partners and our community.
Yes, there are still things we can do better and do more of – and yes, we need more resource to be able to have an even further reach – however for today at least we can be proud of what we have achieved, not just over the last year but over the last seven… great work needs firm foundations and dedication, it is not something that can be achieved overnight.
We have an amazing culture at Manchester Youth Zone, and we are constantly moving forward to be better. This is the proudest achievement of my career and its down to every member of our team, our volunteers, our supporters, and our partners across North Manchester and beyond, I sincerely thank you all.
Richard
