BE THE CHANGE

We see the world through a lens of limitless possibilities – and as we continue to push ourselves and breakthrough boundaries, we need you to unite and join us on our mission.

Introducing … MYZ 100

  • What is it? 2020 has been a hard year for everyone and as it comes to the end, we want to make sure there is a light at the end of the tunnel for young people across the city. Whether its in the form of a tailored Christmas hamper, helping to make New Years Resolutions come true, or teaching them how to cook something for the Christmas dinner table – we need you to unite with us!
  • Where: From the comfort of your own home, to the office, to the great outdoors – location is up to you!
  • When: From now until Christmas, commit an hour, a day, a week, or more
  • How: Set your challenge, gather the support of your friends and family, and DO IT!

2020 has brought a year of challenging situations and we have strived to overcome each one, exceeding our own expectations and delivering to young people in new and unanticipated ways. Since our beginnings we’ve had one simple belief; that all young people should be able to access the same opportunities. This belief is what drives us, inspires us and encourages our continuous ability to improve as a charity – what separates us from most Charities is our Northern soul, our Manchester grit, perseverance, persistence and our inability to accept defeat.

We are relentless in our pursuit of a level playing field for all young people and no global pandemic can stop that – we fight so our members can dream, we drive difference to bring change, we bring change to give the adults of tomorrow the foundations they so rightfully deserve.

With that in mind, we thought why not end the year in the same way and push ourselves further by launching our biggest fundraising campaign to date – MYZ 100. We want to make sure that every one of our young people and their families have a Christmas to remember – a light at the end of a damn right rubbish year, with crackers, trees, turkey and all the trimmings. So, with 100 days until the big day we want to reach out to our community, our supporters, and our members to come together by setting their own MYZ100 challenges and aim to individually raise 100’s or even 1000’s of £’s and bring a smile to the faces of many.

Inspired by MoneyPlus Groups Commercial Director, Jonathan Mills, who challenged himself to do a 100 mile bike ride (across 3 counties!), we want to see who else is willing to push their own boundaries and unite to join us in providing young people that need it with somewhere to turn no matter what is going on in the world.

When talking about his reasons for launching his own challenge, Jonathan said:

“As an employee of MoneyPlus Group, who have supported  Manchester Youth Zone (MYZ) for several years, the children’s charity based in Harpurhey, North Manchester, is one that I have been involved with on a number of occasions, from fundraising events to mentoring a young person, and each involvement has humbled me and inspired me to do more.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many charities across the country have been affected financially, and whilst they are having to deal with the impact of this, the work itself is more important than ever.

The Youth Zone isn’t just a place for children to go and play; I have seen first-hand the impact the facilities, and the staff, have on the lives of the families they work with and so I decided I wanted to push myself and play my part in helping the community of a city I work in.”

So. Are YOU ready to get involved? Maybe you want to do 100 push-ups a day for 100 days, clean 100 cars, sell 100 cupcakes or even just sign up to donate £1 to MYZ for 100 days… the possibilities are endless, and the impact is incredible. If you’re stuck for ideas, let us know … we have lots up our sleeves!
