As part of Sustainability Week, we were joined by an incredible team of sustainable warriors from KeolisAmey Metrolink!
From drab, to fab – they completely transformed our allotment area donating not just their time but also a huge array of seeds, flowers, herbs, fruit and veg to be planted.
Along with planting, Metrolink spoke to the kids about what they could use each item they were planting for… from pizza toppings to side dishes, gifts for mum to ‘smell nice’, the ideas and answers were amazing and it was so great to see the kids thinking about where food comes from.
In addition, they also brought along with them homemade bird boxes – our Juniors LOVED decorating these and they will soon be added to the outside wall to give that a bit of a revamp too.
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us – we very much look forward to hopefully working with you again in the future!
“The KAM volunteers really enjoyed it, so I think we got as much out of it as the members did. It was amazing to see the children getting involved and really enjoying it and how well behaved they were, which is clearly a result of the organisation / structure of the MYZ and all of the dedicated staff and volunteers.”
