Why We Exist

With our dedicated team and purpose-built facilities, we’re here to support thousands of young people from across North Manchester, no matter their background, education, or ability level.

Manchester Youth Zone is located in Harpurhey, the second worst ward in England for the effect of long-term deprivation on children according to government statistics.

And many are vulnerable to poor educational attainment, worklessness, and serious youth violence (SYV).

In the local area:

• Unemployment is 16.2% (national rate 4.4%)
• 48% of families live below the poverty line
• And 11% of 16 to 18-year-olds are not in employment, education or training (NEET)

To combat this, we offer young people exciting and fulfilling opportunities in the arts, sport, entrepreneurship so that with our support, they can build themselves up and design their own futures.

And we make sure that all young people who walk through our doors know that where they come from doesn’t determine where they’re going in life – they do.
